You’re looking at the first post of Nels Travels (NT).

This site exists as a way to share my passions for travel and photography with whomever cares to follow. Hopefully it develops a bit beyond that, but this is my first crack at blogging, so for now it’ll be a work in progress - maybe some future guest posts, giveaways, who knows?

Anyway…

I’m one week away from embarking upon my biggest journey yet - spending a month and a half in Asia/escaping the worse half of Iowa’s winter. I’ve never been outside of my home state for longer than two weeks at once, nor have I been anywhere close to 13 time zones away from the CST, so I’m really excited to be pushing myself both in terms of duration of travel, and in terms of destination - If travelling from Des Moines to Delhi somehow fails to trigger a decent amount of culture shock (not to mention extreme jet lag) I’d be a bit surprised.

So here’s my plan with NT:

I’m going to post photos and some sort of explanation or story behind them as often as I can while I’m abroad (both here and on Instagram/Facebook, so be sure to follow me at the social links at the bottom of the page). If you hit the Subscribe button up above, you can join my mailing list (I’ve never had a “mailing list” before, but I do feel pretty pretentious just talking about it). Anyone on this list will receive some semblance of a newsletter; weekly while I’m traveling, and monthly when I’m back at home stashing away funds for the next trip.
